Apple Orchard Season is coming up

Farm fresh apples

My favorite season is fast approaching us. The warm sunny days cool down and I pull out cozy sweaters from the back of my closet. Fall – mmm just thinking about it makes me happy. I love the crock pot roast with yummy orange carrots with a side of mashed potatoes. I get giddy over the change in colors that surround us as the leaves become their true colors. The smell of wood burning fires in the air is so comforting. A hay ride with a cup of cider. I could go on and on, but it all starts with a trip to the Apple Orchard. My home state is MN and one thing about MN is we have farm land! You don’t need to drive too far from Downtown to be among the fields of corn, soy beans, tree farms or even the apple farms. I didn’t realize how wonderful MN truly was until I became a parent and started looking around me and finding a beauty that has no words right in front of me. I wouldn’t want to raise my babies anywhere else in this world.

I like to make the trip out to a orchard an event for the kids. Pack a lunch, take the camera, invite friends. Spend the day enjoying the outside before it snows. Yes, I just typed the “s” word.

There are great places to take photos at an apple orchard. Just getting them to smile sometimes is the tricky part.

Some of the orchards have farm animals the kids can play with. This one had a maze and pony rides, plus a free pile of hay to climb.

Jadis really likes the hay pile. It took me awhile to get her to go pick apples!

No! Not those ones, pick it from the tree!

With a wagon full of apples we head back to pay for them.

It is a long walk...

Ruthie liked the Apple Orchard, too!

The best part is coming home to peel, freeze, bake and eat all the apples you picked. Below is a link that has a great map of Orchards you can visit this fall. Oh, I can barely wait!!
