Me and King Ryan

Hi, my name is Kelly. I run this MN Mom Blog Muddy Flowers. I am married to the most awesome guy on Earth named Ryan. We have 6 wonderful children Keegan 13, Mikaela 11, Jadis 5, Ruth 2 and Isaiah 7 months old. We lost our baby Jacob when I was 3 1/2 months pregnant with him. I believe he is with Jesus in Heaven waiting for Mama.

With such a busy household it’s hard for me to get away to do my own thing. With a need to have a hobby I went through a period in my life trying different things. I love to draw and paint, but if I get the paints out my younger ones want to paint too. Which means paint would be everywhere. I didn’t want the stress of paint, paper, share the paint, who spilled the water, let it dry, don’t paint the wall, don’t paint the baby to be my hobby. We can save that kind of fun for a different day. I was looking into landscaping, but that took too much work and time at this point of life. I love to bake! I also loved to eat what I baked. When it hit me…

A garden in my backyard!

I was raised as a city girl all my life. My idea of a farm was big, gross, dirty, filled with junk and really far away from any Caribou! My husband was raised on a farm just southwest of Mankato. When he first took me down to his parent’s home I was hooked. It sits right in the middle of corn fields, however the home is surranded by 5 acres of green grass. My father-in-law and mother-in-law have done such a wonderful job of making the farm a peaceful, safe, cozy at home getaway. I love going there.

So, began my journey of bringing the farm to the city. The kids can play back there while I mess around with plants. I can get some sun pulling weeds and they can be playing in the sandbox. We can all enjoy the veggies. SOLD – super fun hobby! I already knew I wanted a hobby farm someday and this would be a great way to spend my time until we get there. To add to my new hip hobby we thought I should blog about it. So, here it is and we are excited to share our ups and downs with all of you.
